Returning to Reiki: Reawakening the Flow Within

Your Reiki Practice Is Waiting—Return to the Flow.

As a Master Reiki and channeling practitioner, I've had the honor of welcoming many returning students into my practice—lightworkers and seekers who were once deeply immersed in their Reiki journey, only to feel their practice slip to the back burner. They often arrive quietly asking, “Can I even still channel Reiki?”  The doubt is palpable, and I understand it intimately.

Let me start with a truth: Reiki never leaves you. Once attuned, the flow of Universal Life Force remains accessible—it’s like riding a bike. You may feel rusty, yes. But the wheels? They’re still there, waiting for movement.

So if your Reiki practice has gone quiet—whether for weeks, months, or years—know this: you are welcome back with open arms.

Why Practitioners Lose Their Flow

There are common themes that show up time and again. Here’s what I’ve seen in my own professional and teaching practice while in studio:

Missing One Day Turns Into Missing Many

In the first few weeks after training, many students build a beautiful daily rhythm. But as life’s momentum picks up, even one missed session can quickly snowball.

Reiki often gets labeled as a "chore"—another item on the daily to-do list. But your practice is not another obligation. It's your spiritual toothbrush.

Gentle Reminder: Self-Reiki should be treated like brushing your teeth —routine, cleansing, and absolutely worth the 5–10 minutes a day. Begin your morning with intention, or wind down with calm energy in the evening. You’ll soon find it comes naturally to you again.

Overwhelm & Doubt After Fast-Tracked Training

In the West, Reiki training often happens over a weekend. That means students may receive First, Second, and even Third Degree attunements in just 16 hours. It’s a surge of spiritual energy—but there is not always enough space to embody the teaching.

Many students also end up feeling pressure to work on others long before they’ve built a personal foundation.

Gentle Reminder: Start again gently. Dust off your manuals. Begin with First Degree practices—even if you’re attuned higher. Reiki honors every step of your journey. And if you feel called, seek out a refresher with a master who teaches gradually and gently over weeks.

Collecting Modalities Without Embodiment

Many Reiki students quickly become seekers—exploring crystal healing, sound therapy, breathwork, and more. While each modality has value, rapid exploration can dilute your connection to the simplicity of Reiki.

Reiki is often someone’s first glimpse into energy work—sometimes before they’ve ever even received a session themselves. It introduces us to becoming more aware of our mindset, our body, and our energetic field.

Gentle Reminder: Let Reiki be your anchor. Its essence—“Universal Life Force”—is known by many names: Chi, Prana, Akasha. By weaving your modalities together through the lens of Reiki, you’ll find harmony between them all. You are one with the All, and All with the One.

Final Thoughts: It’s Never Too Late!

Your Reiki practice is part of your soul’s whisper. The more you return to it, the stronger your connection becomes with your path, your purpose, and your peace.

The original Shin Shin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (translated: Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method for Improvement of Body and Mind) remains a powerful guiding light. Mikao Usui taught that energy work can be simple. And in its simplicity, you’ll find freedom.

So come home to your practice. Let it flow through your palms. Let it clear your energetic clutter. Let it remind you who you are.
