October Reflections: Reclaiming Vision for the Year Ahead
Take time this October to not only review, but reclaim your vision for the year to come.

October is a natural checkpoint. The leaves drop, the air shifts, and we’re invited to slow down and take stock. Before winter pulls us inward, this is the time to look back at the last ten months and get honest about what worked, what didn’t, and what needs to shift.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about clarity.
Why Reflect Now?
We spend so much time setting goals, chasing outcomes, and trying to stay “on track.” But if we don’t pause to check in, we lose the thread. October gives us that pause. It’s the season to look at what you set out to do this year—and how it actually played out.
Reflection helps you reclaim your vision. It’s not just about what you did or didn’t do. It’s about understanding your energy, your choices, and your alignment. That’s how you build a better plan for next year—one that actually fits.
Take Inventory: What’s the Real Story?
Grab your journal. Light a candle. Let this be reflection ritual.
- What goals did you set in January? Write them down again. See them clearly.
- What actions did you take toward those goals? Be specific.
- What results did you experience? Celebrate the wins. Honor the lessons.
Now ask yourself:
- What worked well?
- What didn’t work—and why?
- Where can your goals be tweaked to reflect who you are now?
This is where you get real with yourself. Were your goals too small for your spirit? Or too big for your bandwidth? Did you follow through consistently, or did you get distracted? Were you acting from alignment—or obligation?
Be Honest: Where Did You Show Up, and Where Did You Ghost Yourself?
This part takes guts. But it’s worth it.
- Where did you absolutely crush it?
- Where did you drop the ball?
- Did you take action that felt aligned with your values?
- Where could you have been more consistent?
- Did you overcommit—or play it too safe?
This isn’t about being hyper critical of yourself. It’s about getting crystal clear. When you name what’s true, you can actually do something about it.
Let It Go: What’s Ready to Be Released?
Some goals aren’t meant to be carried forward. Some habits, services, relationships, or routines are ready to be let go. Not because you failed—but because you’ve outgrown them.
Ask yourself:
- Did I get caught up in hustle mode?
- Did I take enough intentional breaks?
- Where do I feel resistance or chaos?
These are clues. If something feels heavy, misaligned, or like it’s dragging you down—it’s probably time to release it. Even if it’s something you’ve done for years. Even if it served you once. Letting go clears space for what’s actually meant to grow.
Refine Your Vision
Once you’ve reflected and released, you can start to refine. What do you actually want next year to look like? What feels aligned now—not just exciting or trendy? Write it down. Seriously. When you put your goals on paper, they become real. They stop floating around in your head and start taking shape. It took me years to realize this! It’s like signing a contract with yourself.
If you can think it, you can build it. But you’ve got to get clear first.
Use Winter Wisely
Winter is not the time to push. It’s the time to rest, dream, and incubate. Let your refined vision settle in. Let your body and mind recharge. When spring comes, you’ll be ready to move with focus and power—not burnout.
This is the rhythm that works:
- Reflect honestly
- Release what’s not aligned
- Refine your vision
- Rest intentionally
- Rise with clarity
Final Thoughts
I’ve seen this process work over and over again—not just for myself, but for the people I guide. When you really take the time to reflect, write things down, and get out of your own way, things start to shift. You stop spinning. You start building.
So take this October seriously! Not with pressure, but with presence. Reclaim your vision. Make space for what’s next. And trust that the pause is part of the plan.
